Fog signal: Two blasts every 30 seconds. Station established: 1829; Present tower built: 1876; Automated: 1985. Construction materials: Cast iron with brick lining. Tower height: 40 feet; Height of focal plane: 87 feet. Other buildings still standing: 1876 keeper's house, oil house, storage building, garage. The keeper's house serves as the home for the commander of Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England. The grounds are open to the public; the lighthouse tower is open only during scheduled open houses. Lighthouse tours are conducted by United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 11-2. Admission is free.
